"While we appreciate that you are probably having a joke with your friends, we are obliged to investigate such matters which is time consuming.“Be assured your friend’s banks will be doing the same.“This is a polite request to ask you to cease marking payments in this manner.
Thank you for your cooperation.”Despite the very ‘polite’ British telling off, many people did not see the funny side of Joe’s banking antics.One person slammed: “Pretty stupid to do this tbh.”Another user added: “Idiot is lucky they didn’t freeze his account and tell him to f** off.”A third person voiced: “All fun and games until the police knock your door down for stupid jokes like this.”Someone else shared: “I've worked in anti-money laundering.“I've investigated people who have put payment references like this as a joke.
