Home Alone catapulted Macaulay Culkin to superstardom and thirty years on is still (probably) the best-loved Christmas film of all time.
For the Culkin family, however, the film was apparently a Christmas miracle in its own right. In an appearance on the Ray D’Arcy show legendary Irish actress Brenda Fricker, who plays the ‘pigeon lady’ in the Christmas classic, revealed that she became friendly with Macauley’s mum Patricia on set.
According to the actress, Patricia shared that prior to Macaulay landing the part in Home Alone, the family of nine were ‘so poor’ that they couldn’t afford basic appliances.
