Boris Johnson faces a fresh cronyism row after overrulling a Lords Committee to hand a millionaire Tory donor a peerage. Former Tory treasurer and city tycoon Peter Cruddas was first reportedly to in line for a Lordship earlier this year - after giving £50,000 to Boris Johnson's leadership campaign.
The House of Lords Committee, which vets Lords appointments, said it could not support one of the seven potential Peers put forward by the PM - Mr Cruddas.
It's understood the Committee pointed to a 2012 court case which followed Mr Cruddas being filmed talking about donations in a Sunday Times newspaper sting.
But Mr Johnson overrulled the Committee's decision, saying many of the "most serious" allegations had been "found untrue". And he said
