Boris Johnson is expected to announce the deal on Christmas Eve morning, but talks were continuing in Brussels through the night as the two sides hammered out the final details on fishing.
The fishing issue was a big sticking point overnight and wrangling on the amount of fish that could be caught and what type of species delayed the announcement which was otherwise expected late on Wednesday night.The deal will allow tariff free and quota free trade with the EU and no limits on the goods that can be sold into the EU.But concessions on fishing, a reported 25 per cent reduction in the value of EU quota in UK waters over five years before the UK takes control of all stocks, could leave industry bosses in Scotland still accusing the government.
