On May 16, flash flooding in the Horwich area led to blocked roads, submerged properties and school closures. The severe flooding also saw some cars having to be towed away from the Beehive roundabout near to Chorley New Road after getting stuck.
While the flooding came following a brief period of rain, some residents have claimed new housing developments in Horwich have rendered the area incapable of weathering a deluge.
