Nicky Campbell quits BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast after nearly 20 years in major shake-up

Nicky Campbell is leaving BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast after nearly two decades to host a new phone-in show. Nicky, 60, will stay with 5 Live for the weekday 9am to 11am programme, which is an extension of his one-hour Your Call slot on Breakfast.

He said: “It’s why I love 5 Live – hearing from listeners and talking to people about what really does matter to them and their communities.” It sparks a search for a new partner for Rachel Burden, Nicky’s Breakfast co-host for the last 10 years.

One internal option could be Drive host Tony Livesey. The BBC said a replacement will be announced later. Nicky said: “Leaving Breakfast is really tough after so many unforgettable programmes with Rachel and the team.
