BBC Breakfast bosses planning for major set overhaul to emulate US morning show

BBC Breakfast viewers will be in for a shock soon, as the studio is set for a major overhaul and will copy popular US morning talk shows.The BBC programme has been a staple of our screens for decades, with presenters sitting together on the iconic red sofa with a low table in front of them to place laptops and papers on.Behind presenters like Naga Munchetty, Sally Nugent and Charlie Stayt is the typical photographic backdrop of the Media City skyline in Salford Quays.But all of that is set to change, as bosses are planning to ditch the traditional format for something more along the lines of Piers Morgan's TalkTV show Uncensored, which features a high desk and scrolling news headlines.Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, a BBC source confirmed: "There's disruption behind the scenes as BBC Breakfast is getting a new set in the next few months."It will be the first time they've changed it since they moved to Salford in 2012, so all in all everything will look very different in the coming months."The source added: "Apparently they want it to look a bit more like a US breakfast show and might have windows and people walking past."It was reported in May that the BBC is working to revamp Studio B, with RX:TV reporting at the time that the building - which housed Victoria Derbyshire and Newsnight - is due to be revealed soon.The publication reported bosses were "concerned" that the studio's output had "fallen behind" what viewers expect from the national broadcaster.It added that the BBC Breakfast studio - which is shared with North West Tonight - is filmed in a space originally intended to be an office space, "with a relatively low ceiling for TV studios".Director General Tim Davie allegedly announced to staff that all regional.
