Richard Madeley has revealed that he will be taking a considerable amount of time away from Good Morning Britain over the summer after unveiling his "short contract" with ITV.
The 66-year-old TV veteran became one of the many hosts to fill the void when Piers Morgan dramatically exited the show - after he'd refused to apologise for his comments about Meghan Markle following the bombshell interview.
With a huge gap in the programme schedule to fill, Richard quickly became one of the channel's favourite hosts after Piers had moved on to pastures new. However, the former This Morning star has since confirmed that he will be taking some much needed time out in the warmer UK months but will be returning in the autumn.
In spite of his confirmed return later on in the year, Richard couldn't give much more away about his future with ITV, revealing he was on a very "short contract".The TV star joined Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer on Sunday Brunch to talk about his current role on GMB.He was questioned by the two hosts about the possibility of being on the breakfast favourite for a lengthy period of time. With Richard admitting: "I just do stuff for fun."I don't see GMB as the next step in my career because I’m a pensioner.
