North Ayrshire are urging residents to be vigilant following a rise in reports of dodgy doorstep callers.The warning comes after two bogus workmen tricked their way into a home in Saltcoats yesterday under the guise of investigating a burst water pipe.Officers are now urging residents to look out for vulnerable neighbours over fears crooks will target the elderly.PC Johnson, safer communities officer in North Ayrshire, said: “In the last week we have attended a number of incidents of doorstep callers and suspicious activity."From bogus callers to rogue traders, doorstep criminals are cunning, creative, and often very convincing. "Anyone can be fooled as these people are professional con artists.
