Man, 25, arrested after M8 police car chase that left officer in hospital

A 25-year-old man has been arrested after a police car chase that left two people - including an officer - in hospital.Cops had been in pursuit of a van as it allegedly weaved in and out of traffic on the M8 between Newbridge and Livingston at 7.35pm yesterday.The vehicle had allegedly failed to stop for officers in Edinburgh a short time earlierAn officer and the driver of the van were rushed to hospital following the incident for treatment to their injuries.They have since been released.The M8 westbound between Junction two and Junction three has been reopened.Police Scotland have confirmed that inquiries remain ongoing.

A spokesperson said: "A police vehicle was involved in a collision with a van following a pursuit on the M8 near Newbridge at 7.35pm on Friday, April 8. "The vehicle had failed to stop for officers in Edinburgh a short time earlier."The driver of the police vehicle and the driver of the van were taken to hospital and have since been released following treatment."A 25-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing."The M8 westbound between junction 2 and junction 3 has since reopened."
