Liam's arrival appeared to come completely out of the blue as he claimed to be supporting his sister Tiffany, but it's clear he isn't telling the full story.
The character hasn't been seen on the BBC One soap since 2015, when he and Cindy Beale left for Germany alongside her newborn daughter Beth.
And bosses no doubt recast the role after original actor James quit acting last year to become a builder. The child star played the role of Liam Butcher on EastEnders from 2008-2015.
