Experts have revealed the Arctic Ocean that surrounds the North Pole will be ice-free in the summers before 2050, even if temperature rises are kept under control.
Scientists conducted a study on the impact of various levels of carbon dioxide emissions on Arctic sea ice, discovering even if emission-cutting goals are met it may not be enough.
But cutting down greenhouse gases is still vital to control how often the ice will thaw and for how long – and whether it will vanish permanently or re-appear.
Sea ice usually shrinks and grows depending on seasons, some ice remains throughout the year but this could change. A climate-modelling study conducted by climate scientist Dirk Notz of the University of Hamburg in Germany and his colleagues
