Appeal for witnesses as teenager fighting for life after being hit by a tram

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenager was hit by a tram. The incident happened close to Ashton Moss Metrolink station, beside Lord Sheldon Way in Ashton-under-Lyne, just after 5pm last night (Thursday).

A male, aged in his teens, was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries. He remains in a critical condition, police said. READ MORE: LIVE: Police scene following reports of 'hit and run' - latest updates No arrests have been made and an investigation is ongoing.

A police cordon was in place after the incident last night and tram services were stopped between Droylsden and Ashton-under-Lyne.
