In June 2021, BBC journalist Andrew Marr fell seriously ill with a bout of coronavirus following his visit to Cornwall to report on the G7 summit.

The 61-year-old has opened up about his battle with the potentially deadly disease and urged people "not to think you're invulnerable" as social distancing restrictions begin to lift.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the political broadcaster discussed how he fell victim to coronavirus, despite being double jabbed, and reveals the virus left him feeling "pretty bloody". "I thought I was coming down with a summer cold," he told the paper, discussing the symptoms he spotted upon returning home to London from St.Ives. "I was sneezing, had a bit of a sore throat and a slight headache.
