Almost 400 complaints lodged against Bolton businesses since lockdown started... but only one has been forced to close

Hundreds of complaints have been lodged against businesses in Bolton 'operating illegally' since the start of the coronavirus lockdown.

Bolton Council revealed that 377 complaints have been made by the public but only one business - a vaping shop - has been ordered to close.

In addition, 78 warning letters have been sent to businesses and council officers have visited 177 premises to carry out spot checks and respond to complaints.

Bolton Council has praised the figures and said that no businesses in the borough have been fined in the first two months of the lockdown.
