The annual fall count of an extremely rare fish species that lives in a single Mojave Desert cavern found the highest number in 19 years, the National Park Service said. Scientists counted 263 Devils Hole pupfish last month, the highest autumn count since September 2003, the agency said in a statement. Devils Hole is a deep water-filled cavern in a detached unit of Death Valley National Park located in Nye County, Nevada.

As the "Rust" shooting investigation continues, a Los Angeles judge on Friday dismissed claims of assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress against the producers of the principal production company.  The action comes after Alec Baldwin fired a gun while practicing a shot for the film "Rust" on a New Mexico movie set Oct. 21, resulting in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.The group had been rehearsing in a small church on the set.

Entertainment lawyer Bert Fields, known for his work with A-list celebrity clients, passed away Sunday at the age of 93 in his California home. Fields' law firm, Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger, announced the attorney's death on August 8 via a statement.

The Directors Guild of America, which represents more than 19,000 members, has launched a review committee to improve on-set safety following the Alec Baldwin "Rust" movie shooting that left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and director Joel Souza wounded in October. The new team will be led by director Karen Gaviola, who is also involved in an upcoming round of studio contract negotiations, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We have been leading advocates for mandatory safety training and for demanding increased safety precautions on sets," the guild told the paper.

The husband of Halyna Hutchins, the cinematographer shot and killed on the set of "Rust," says it's absurd Alec Baldwin won't accept responsibility for her death. "The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me," Matthew Hutchins explained to NBC News' "Today" co-anchor Hoda Kotb during an interview that airs Thursday. "But gun safety was not the only problem on that set," Hutchins added.

A crew member detailed the moment Halyna Hutchins was hit with a live round from a gun actor Alec Baldwin was holding during a new interview.  Special effects coordinator Thomas Gandy was about four to five yards away from Baldwin and Hutchins before the gun went off on the set of "Rust" on Oct. 21.
