Nearly 600,000 pensioners still entitled to free TV licences could be missing out on the benefit, campaigners warned today. About 3.7 million OAPs were robbed of the £157.50-a-year lifeline at the start of this month.
Only over-75s who are eligible for pension credit can carry on receiving free licences after the Conservatives broke a manifesto pledge.
Figures uncovered by the Turn2Us anti-poverty charity revealed 589,000 who could claim the benefit do not.
