IFPI, the organisation representing the recorded music industry worldwide, calculates the award based on an artist’s or group’s worldwide performance across digital and physical music formats during the year, from streams to vinyl; covering their complete body of work.
BTS' win makes the group - consisting of RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook - the first ever to receive the award for two consecutive years.
Elsewhere on the IFPI Global Artist Chart countdown, the likes of Ed Sheeran and Olivia Rodrigo were recognised for their worldwide impact.
