From prison TikTok to affairs behind bars, illicit phones have made it possible for prisoners to stay in touch with the outside world more than the authorities would like. The prevalence of phones in prison might be surprising, but prisoners don't need to shove a 6.7 inch iPhone 13 where the sun don't shine to stay in touch. The most popular phone in prison is, in fact, much smaller, clocking in at around the same dimensions as a couple of £2 coins.

The tiny Zanco Tiny t1 is known affectionately as a 'boss beater' because it is designed to beat body orifice security scanners.

Its default ringtone is a gunshot and it comes with all the features of a classic phone, from texts to calls and even a micro-USB for file transfer.

It also has a voice effect feature to help disguise prisoners' voices. The Zanco can be worth up to $1000 (£760) behind bars, where it is smuggled in via body cavities, care packages, or even by prison staff. It has a three day battery life and lets you talk on the phone for up to 180 minutes.
