Harry Potter author JK Rowling has been married twice and her first husband was Portuguese television journalist Jorge Arantes.
The writer, 54, moved to Portugal when she was 25 and working as a teacher giving English as a foreign language classes. She met Arantes during a night out in Porto and they went on to strike up a relationship and move into together.
In an interview with the Express, Arantes described their relationship as "intense and passionate". He added: "We were simply two young, independent people enjoying life." After several months of dating Rowling discovered she was pregnant and later suffered a devastating miscarriage.
