It follows John Lewis’s disclosure that it plans to close eight stores, putting some 1,300 jobs at risk; retailers including Debenhams, Laura Ashley, Cath Kidston, Monsoon, Oasis and Warehouse have all gone into administration or closed.Just because the news isn’t surprising somehow doesn’t make it less disheartening.
