Wedding receptions can finally restart in England from Saturday, the government announced today. Today's announcement comes two weeks after plans to restart the gatherings were scrapped with 12 hours' notice due to a rise in coronavirus cases.
Rules had been set to change from August 1 in England to allow small, socially-distanced receptions of up to 30 people. However, the move was one of those postponed for at least two weeks by Boris Johnson.
Today, the government said that wedding receptions can resume of up to 30 people at locations which are adhere by coronavirus guidance.
However the party must take the form of a "sit down meal". Wedding ceremonies of up to 30 people have already been allowed in England since July 4 and can continue.
