Weather forecasters have warned that there is a 40% chance the UK is battered by an "Atlantic storm" this month despite the incoming heatwave.Brits can expect mostly scorching conditions in the coming days with temperatures possibly reaching 28C, according to Netweather.

However, in their long range forecast spanning from May 23 to June 5, the BBC say that it might not be clear skies for all. They write: "The signs we do have indicate that the Azores high extends into north-west and central Europe for some periods of this week.

Lower pressure moves across northern Scandinavia. "This would bring a slightly higher than average temperature pattern. A drier rainfall pattern is possible across England and Wales and nearer seasonal in Northern Ireland and Scotland. "There are other scenarios possible over the latter part of the forecast. "If high pressure across the Azores fails to build across Europe, the Atlantic storm track could be active further south. "This would bring a more unsettled pattern across the country.
