Wayne Rooney has sensationally claimed Manchester United would be making a mistake if they were to appoint Erik ten Hag as Ralf Rangnick's successor.
According to various reports, ten Hag tops a four-man shortlist to replace the current interim manager when Rangnick leaves his post to take up a consultancy role at the end of the campaign.
Though Rooney believes there is a more qualified candidate than the current Ajax boss and has tipped Mauricio Pochettino as the right man to perform the much-needed u-turn at Old Trafford.Rooney told Sky Sports: "Pochettino's done it in the Premier League, he knows the Premier League.
At Tottenham he brought a lot of young players through, at Southampton as well he brought a lot of young players through."So, if I'm choosing from one of them two, that's who I'd choose, I'd go for Pochettino and give him time.
