UK weather forecast: Brits to swelter in 'bucketload' of 22C sunshine

Brits can look forward to temperatures creeping up and a "bucketload" of sunshine forecast for most of the country after the cool weather experienced over the past few days.

After a frosty start this morning in some places, highs of 22C will gradually creep in across the UK before the weekend. The weekend will see sizzling weather for most parts, with the following week looking much drier and finer too.

BBC forecaster Phil Avery said of today's forecast: "We could have one or two temperature records set, that's how cold it's going to be, but at least it's accompanied by a bucketload of sunshine anywhere from central and southern Scotland to Northern Ireland and the greater part of England and Wales."
