Britons will be battered by rain today as the short-lived heatwave is replaced by downpours in southern parts of the country.
The rain comes after Brits flocked to the beach yesterday as temperatures soared with parts of the UK being hotter than Mexico.
Beach goers in areas such as Bournemouth, Dorset and Cornwall were able to enjoy scorching temperatures as high as 25C. But with patchy rain on the way, summer antics will be put on pause.
BBC weatherman Tomasz Schafernaker said: "It is going to turn wet in the south, so through the early hours of the morning we are expecting some rain in Cardiff, Southampton, London and Norwich.
