Brits can expect "bucketload of sunshine" today as temperatures slowly rise in the run-up to another mini-heat wave. The Met Office is warning overnight temperatures will once again plummet "close to freezing" for most and into subzero numbers for rural areas.
But that will slowly be replaced as much of the UK will remain dry and sunny, while thermometers reach highs of 16C by the afternoon.
BBC forecaster Phil Avery said: "We could have one or two temperature records set, that's how cold it's going to be, but at least it's accompanied by a bucketload of sunshine anywhere from central and southern Scotland to Northern Ireland and the greater part of England and Wales."
