Temperatures are set to plunge this week as an enormous Arctic chill brings the mini-heatwave to an end. A Norwegian cold plunge measuring some 1,200 miles wide will see one of the warmest Easters on record finish abruptly.

Forecasters have said Britain is going from "summer to winter and back to summer". The weekend saw temperatures get as high as 25C during a hot spell that lasted from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.
