The UK has imposed sanctions on senior Chinese officials following reported human rights abuses against Uighur Muslims such as torture and forced labour.
Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced travel bans and asset freezes against four senior officials and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Public Security Bureau in a statement to MPs on Monday.
Mr Raab described the situation as "one of the worst human rights crises of our time" and said the international community could not look the other way.
The move, which comes as the EU, Canada and the US also announced sanctions, comes after the UK Government faced criticism for not taking a tougher line with Beijing over the treatment of the Uighur people.
