The UK's coronavirus death toll is now more than 32,000 after a further 436 patients died in the space of a day. It marks an increase in the daily number, reversing a trend of lower tolls in recent days.

The news comes after the UK's coronavirus death toll became the highest in Europe and the second-highest in the world after the United States.

Despite the news, the government has continued to claim it has successfully handled the pandemic and the UK is over the worst of it.
