Face coverings will be mandatory in shops from July 24 - and police to enforce it

Shoppers will be told to wear face coverings in supermarkets and other retailers in England from next week. Police will have the powers to fine people who flout the rules up to £100, under the regulations which will be set out by ministers on Tuesday.

It comes after days of confusion over the Government’s approach, during which Boris Johnson appeared at odds with some of his top team.
