Face coverings will be mandatory in cinemas and churches in England from August 8, Boris Johnson has announced. The new rule will apply to indoor settings where people are likely to come into contact with people they would not usually meet, the PM said.
It also includes museums and galleries. The changes are recommended from now and will be enforceable in law from August 8. Face coverings were already compulsory in shops, supermarkets, indoor shopping centres and on public transport in England - and the PM will ask police to crack down harder on those breaking the rules.
