Greater Manchester cops have been told to 'use common sense' when faced with coronavirus lockdown breaches after measures were rejigged.
Officers have been reminded of the difference between rules outlined in emergency COVID-19 legislation in February and government guidance reissued by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday (May 10).
Police can enforce measures introduced into law by the Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020, including certain shops shutting and restrictions on movement.
But government guidance - such as two-metre distancing, avoiding public transport where necessary and wearing face coverings are encloses spaces - cannot be enforced.
