Floundering Boris Johnson has been told to man up and take responsibility for the UK’s coronavirus death toll – after a “lifetime” of dodging blame.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer blasted the PM and led calls for an urgent inquiry before a feared second wave of Covid-19 strikes.

Sir Keir has ordered his staff to compile a list of demands for what the inquiry should cover. He said: “It is no good the Prime Minister flailing around trying to blame others.

It is time he took responsibility for his own failures.” Of the PM’s lack of an apology to care workers in the Commons, he added: “This is absolutely defining of the Prime Minister, a man who never takes responsibility for his actions.” Sir Keir spoke as the UK death toll rose 148 to
