UFC president Dana White has confirmed Dustin Poirier wants a trilogy fight against Conor McGregor, and that was the reason he passed up a tilt for the lightweight belt.
Poirier shocked the MMA world back in January when he knocked out McGregor in the second round of their lightweight bout at UFC 256.The 'Diamond' put in a career-best performance to dominate the 'Notorious' and stop him in his tracks with a series of brutal calf kicks.McGregor immediately called for a rematch, while it was speculated that Poirier could go on to fight against Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC lightweight title.With Khabib Nurmagodov now retired for good, Chandler will instead go on to fight Charles Oliveira for the 155lbs strap at UFC 262.And White.
