Tributes have poured in for a "genuine loving gent" whose soul was "taken too soon" when a construction lift suddenly plummeted to the ground.
David Bottomley, 53, died in the accident in Liverpool city centre at about 3.30pm on Wednesday. His son Clayton, 18 and who like his dad was from Castleford, West Yorkshire, and who was with his dad when the tragedy occurred, has been left fighting for his life in hospital.
The incident is understood to have involved an external construction lift outside the Unity Building at the corner of Chapel Street and Rumford Place.
Flowers have been left at the scene of the accident, while friends and colleagues have paid tribute on social media, the Liverpool Echo reports.
