Looking to gain time following an earlier crash, Frain failed to slow as she encountered the tangle of bikes and limbs. Meanwhile, Frain said after the race that she was unaware of the crash that had occurred in front of her. "After working hard to come back to the peloton in the convoy and with my teammate, the speed we rejoined the pack would have matched their pace," said Frain on Twitter after Monday's result.
