Tory MP Simon Clarke has resigned as a minister in Boris Johnson's government for 'personal reasons', he has revealed. Mr Clarke, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, was Minister of State for Regional Growth and Local Government.
He had been moved to the Communities department from the Treasury in Mr Johnson's February Reshuffle. Number 10 announced he is to be replaced by Luke Hall, previously Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Communities and Local Government.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Mr Clarke wrote: "Like all of us I have to balance my own life against the demands of office. "I would not have made this decision unless I believed it was of the utmost importance." He said it was always an "enormous honour" to
