Tories 'failed to heed warnings of workers falling through Covid-19 support gap'

Warnings to ministers about the thousands of workers left without at support during the pandemic "continue to go unheeded", the chair of a powerful House of Commons' committee has warned.

Darren Jones, Chair of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee has rejected Tory pledges that we are all in this together warning that the economic disaster caused by Covid-19 "has not been shared out evenly".

Throughout the pandemic, thousands of Brits, including new starters in companies and company directors, often of very small businesses, have fallen through the cracks of the Government's support schemes, leading to destitution and hardship.
