Ferguson has been transported straight to hospital off the back of their fight in Jacksonville, Florida. ‘El Cucuy’ suffered serious facial injuries during the contest as blood was seen pouring from his face.
Gaethje’s powerful punches caused a large degree of swelling under Ferguson’s right eye. And he also sustained a cut on the left side of his cranium, leading to the 36-year-old being swiftly taken for treatment.
The fight was stopped early by referee Herb Dean as he called a halt to proceedings in the fifth round. Ferguson was able to conduct his post-fight interview in the empty arena after losing the interim lightweight title
