a number of houses will re-evaluate whether they really have to do couture,” Coleridge says, adding that ready-to-wear lines will be maintained.
Fashion has been severely hit by coronavirus, with clothing sales plunging by 34 per cent in March. Coleridge said shops had to shut “just when all the clothes had arrived in the stores” and, with next season’s clothes on the way, there will be a huge amount of unsold stock.
