Big Freedia‘s song “Explode” is sampled on Beyonce‘s new song “Break My Soul,” but she is not in the main credits for the new track.
Fans are expressing disappointment that Freedia didn’t get a “featuring” credit for her work on the new song.
She does have a writing credit though. Big Freedia, whose real name is Freddie Ross Jr., is known for popularizing bounce music.
She identifies as a gay man and has said that people can use any pronoun to describe her, but prefers she/her pronouns. “Whatever makes my fans comfortable—to be able to call me ‘he’ or ‘she,’—I’ll allow.
