A temporary mortuary built during the coronavirus crisis has been placed on standby. Greater Manchester Police said the facility will still remain available for use if it is needed in the future.
The mortuary, located in Trafford Park, was set up to provide extra capacity in case existing mortuaries in the region struggled to cope with a surge in deaths.
It was staffed by specially-trained GMP staff and officers. However, GMP said only a small percentage of the site has been used.
