Kate Garraway has said she is "very protective" of husband Derek Draper in a first look of her new documentary on ITV. Caring For Derek is a follow up to the Good Morning Britain presenter's, 54, award-winning first documentary Finding Derek and it is set to air on Tuesday 22 February on ITV.

Derek, 54, returned home in April 2021 after spending a year in hospital fighting for his life after contracting coronavirus in 2020, which has since left him battling a number of ongoing health issues.

In a first look at Caring For Derek, it follows the family from the first moments Derek arrived home ten months ago up until now.

The ITV star is supported by her GMB co-presenter Ben Shephard as he adds: "He is desperately clinging on to the idea he can get better." A montage of clips follows Kate, Derek and their two children Darcey, 15, and son Billy, 12, at home as they adapt to life after his hospital stay.
