The family of a teenager suffering from a condition that makes her dislocate her bones nearly every day is trying to raise £20,000 for life changing surgery.

Two years ago Rachael Alexander was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome (EDS), a group of rare, inherited conditions that affect connective tissue, Wales Online reported.

Faults in certain genes cause the connective tissue that supports the skin, tendons, ligaments and bones to weaken. EDS cases differ greatly and some can be relatively mild while others are disabling or sometimes even life-threatening.

Because of the weak tissue, Rachael frequently dislocates her joints, regardless of the 16 pills she takes each day to manage her illness.
