Brandon Flowers has called for stricter gun control laws in the US in the wake of this week’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.On Tuesday (May 24), an 18-year-old gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School, which teaches children aged seven to 10. Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that the suspect was later shot dead by responding law enforcement officials.At least 19 children and two teachers were killed in the attack.

Animal Collective have cancelled the remaining shows on their current US tour after Avey Tare and Deakin tested positive for COVID-19.The band are out on the road in support of their 11th studio album ‘Time Skiffs’, which came out back in February.As Pitchfork reports, Animal Collective recently scrapped three scheduled gigs on the West Coast due to an unnamed member of their touring party contracting COVID. Today (May 26), the group issued a statement to explain that the virus had “hit us and hit us hard”.“Both Dave [Portner, aka Avey Tare] and Josh [Dibb, aka Deakin] (each vaccinated and boosted) got very sick and are unable to play shows right now,” the message read.“Continuing to tour at this moment would be harmful to their health and could contribute to longer term difficulties.

The Rolling Stones have confirmed that Sam Fender, Phoebe Bridgers, The War On Drugs and Courtney Barnett will support the band at their BST Hyde Park shows.The band will be performing two concerts in London in the summer as part of their 60th anniversary tour.The Stones have announced The War On Drugs and Bridgers will support them on June 25, while Fender and Barnett will appear on July 3.Following on from their acclaimed USA ‘No Filter’ tour, their latest jaunt will see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood make their long-awaited return to the UK, also performing at the home of Liverpool FC – Anfield, for the Stones’ first in Liverpool show for over 50 years.Echo And The Bunnymen will provide support for that concert. The band will be joined by drummer Steve Jordan at all shows, following the sad death of Charlie Watts last year.“Two dreams in one – there’s nothing like The Rolling Stones, and there’s nowhere like Anfield,” Ian McCulloch from Echo And The Bunnymen recently said in a statement.“I can’t explain how unbelievably happy and proud I am that my band Echo And The Bunnymen are going to be opening up for The Rolling Stones, THE Greatest Rock & Roll band in the history of time, at Anfield, the Shrine of Life and football…“The Rolling Stones!!! Girl In Red has announced a new one-off show in London next spring.The Norwegian singer-songwriter will bring her ‘Make It Go Quiet Tour’ to the capital’s O2 Brixton Academy on April 3, 2023. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (May 27) and can be purchased here.It comes after she recently postponed her European headline tour due to damage to her vocal cords.“After my US tour ended on the 25th of April, I went to a throat specialist in Norway who said I had nodular damage to my vocal cords,” Girl In Red explained in a statement.

Tom Grennan has spoken to NME about his recent attack ordeal in New York, as well as revealing that work is almost complete on his third album.Last month, the singer-songwriter was the victim of an “unprovoked attack and robbery” in the US, which led to him suffering a ruptured ear, torn ear-drum and issue with his previously fractured jaw – forcing him to postpone a number of shows.After telling fans that he was in “good spirits” and that “the show must go on“, Grennan last week told NME that he was feeling “positive” and looking to move past the incident.“To be honest, I’m trying to take positives from it,” he said. “The guy was obviously in ill health.

Lykke Li has revealed that she’s currently “reworking” her latest album ‘EYEYE‘ to make it “more like an ambient, instrumental, sonic dream”.The Swedish singer-songwriter released her acclaimed fifth album last week, with NME describing it as “more of an art-pop mood piece than a home for singles” and “a record that breathes, sighs and will leave you lost in the same dazed revery that these tracks were born from”.Having previously referred to the record as an “attempt to compress a lifetime of romantic obsession and female fantasy into a hyper-sensory landscape” while capturing “the intimacy of listening to a voice memo on a macro dose of LSD”, Li now says that a new version of the album will explore the more ethereal elements of the songs.“I’m reworking it, and it’s going to become even more like an ambient, instrumental, sonic dream,” she told NME. “It’ll be stripping it down and touching the more psychedelic aspects.“I always ping-pong from where I’ve been, and I want to go somewhere I haven’t been.

Radiohead supergroup The Smile have been added as a support act to Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘ show at London’s All Points East this summer.On August 28, Cave and his band will headline the final night of the Victoria Park festival, with the support bill also including Michael Kiwanuka, Sleaford Mods, Japanese Breakfast and more.Remaining in August but reverting to its double weekends format, All Points East takes place on Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20 and then across the whole August bank holiday weekend from Thursday, August 25 to Sunday, August 28.Gorillaz headline as a UK festival exclusive on August 19, before APE Presents: Field Day returns on August 20 with The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk.Tame Impala headline the following weekend (August 25), while The National take the top spot on August 26.

Supergrass have appeared on American television for the first time in nearly 16 years, going on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week to perform ‘Richard III’.The performance, which aired Monday night (May 23), was the band’s first on Kimmel’s show. Editors guitarist Justin Lockey will not be joining the band on their summer tour as he continues to work on his mental health.The band, who released their latest single ‘Heart Attack’ last month, will play a host of headline and festival shows in the UK and Europe this summer, including a slot at Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival in August.Editors confirmed in a social media post this afternoon (May 24) that Lockey, who previously played guitar in Mastersystem and Yourcodenameis:milo, won’t be a part of their tour plans this summer.
