The Strokes’ catalogue.According to Rolling Stone, The Strokes frontman has sold a portion of both publishing rights and masters rights to Primary Wave for an undisclosed sum.Primary Wave have not revealed whether Casablancas has retained a portion of his stake. The sale only includes Casablancas’ rights for The Strokes’ music, not his other projects, a Primary Wave representative told Rolling Stone.Casablancas is the latest musician to have made money in the music copyright sales world.

Catfish And The Bottlemen guitarist Johnny “Bondy” Bond has shared a statement online in which he confirms that he left the band last year.Bondy’s post claims to end speculation about the band’s current status, line-up and the circumstances that led to such changes, which he alleges had stemmed from “behaviour constantly re-occurring that I found to be intolerable”.In the Instagram message Bondy claims that the band was operating “in ways in to which I agreed”, adding that the “breakdown of the band was unpleasant to say the least”.“To put it simply, I feel that both the professional and personal relationships had become entirely dysfunctional,” he added.NME has approached representatives of Catfish And The Bottlemen for comment.A post shared by Johnny Bond (@parableofarable)Currently, it appears that Van McCann and Benji Blakeway are the remaining members.Bondy goes on to explain that he played four summer shows with the band last year as a session musician “as there was nobody else ready to do so”.“I have had no contact or affiliation of any sort with the remaining band members since then (Neighbourhood Festival ’21),” he wrote. He added that he “assumed” the group would have informed fans about his departure as well as drummer Bob Hall’s, but that “as far as I’m aware this has not happened yet”.Bondy’s comments follow fan rumours five years prior that the band were on the verge of splitting, which NME later learnt was false.Ex guitarist Billy Bibby left the band in 2017 and spoke to NME about his departure as well as his pursuit of a solo career.Catfish And The Bottlemen’s last album was 2019’s ‘The Balance‘.

Big Thief have announced two gigs in Tel Aviv, Israel for next month, explaining the decision in a statement.The band, who released new double album ‘Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You’ back in February, will play a pair of shows in bassist Max Oleartchick’s hometown on July 6 and 7.Taking to Instagram to explain, they said: “We are excited to announce two shows in Max’s hometown, Tel Aviv, Israel on July 6th and 7th.“Accompanying this announcement, we would again like to clarify our motivations and intentions for playing in Tel Aviv, Israel, with as much transparency as possible.”They added: “Over the last seven years we’ve traveled constantly around 3 of our members’ home country, the United States, meeting each other’s families and childhood friends and sharing in the joys and sorrows of a complicated, beautiful and tumultuous home. The Killers gave their song ‘Pressure Machine’ its live debut at the first of two dates in London last night (June 3).The Las Vegas band are midway through a UK and Ireland tour right now and performed at Arsenal’s Emirate Stadium yesterday.During the gig, The Killers aired the title track of their latest album, which was released last year, for the first time. The Strokes have announced they will be cancelling their headline set at Primavera Sound Festival due to a COVID-19 infection within their camp.The band were due to close the Friday night of the festival (June 3) but Caribou will now be taking The Strokes’ place, with Mogwai filling the gap left by Caribou.Taking to Twitter, Primavera wrote: “We have tried everything. We wanted The Strokes to be at Primavera Sound Barcelona this weekend but you can’t always get what you want.”“Since we heard about the cancellation of the band’s concert in Boston on May 28, we have been in contact with the band to see how the festival could help make their concert happen.
