Yeah Yeah Yeahs have announced details of ‘Cool It Down’, their first new album in nine years – watch the video for its first single, the Perfume Genius-featuring ‘Spitting Off The Edge Of The World’, below.The New York City trio will follow up 2013’s ‘Mosquito‘ with the new eight-track album on September 30 via their new label home of Secretly Canadian.“To all who have waited, our dear fans, thank you, our fever to tell has returned, and writing these songs came with its fair share of chills, tears, and euphoria when the pain lifts and truth is revealed,” Karen O said of the band’s return in a statement.“Don’t have to tell you how much we’ve been going through in the last nine years since our last record, because you’ve been going through it too, and we love you and we see you, and we hope you feel the feels from the music we’ve made. No shying away from the feels, or backing down from what’s been gripping all of us these days.

Foals‘ Yannis Philippakis has recalled a drunken encounter between himself and The Cure‘s Robert Smith at the NME Awards in 2020.At the awards, which took place just before the first COVID lockdown, Foals won Best Live Act while The Cure picked up Best Festival Headliner.As he recounted to Shaun Keaveny on his podcast The Line-Up, Philippakis encountered Smith backstage at the Brixton Academy event.“We were at the NME Awards, which is famously sloppy,” he began. “And I think that I’d quit smoking, and I was drinking quickly, you know.

The 1975 are set to return with new music next month, if posters spotted by fans are to be believed.Today (June 1) is an important day for the band, who chose their name based on a poem including the date, and often release new music or share future plans with fans on the day.For 2022, they appear to have put up posters featuring a black-and-white photo from a distance that appears to be frontman Matty Healy, and a date of July 7. Tim Burgess has launched a jacket inspired by the one he wore in the video for The Charlatans’ single ‘How High’ to mark the song’s 25th anniversary.The track was released in 1997 and appeared on the band’s fifth album ‘Tellin’ Stories’. In the music video, the frontman donned a yellow and black jacket.“The question I get asked the most about The Charlatans isn’t ‘How does it feel to headline a festival?’ or ‘What was it like writing a banger like ‘The Only One I Know’?’,” Burgess told NME.

Gently Tender have announced the release of their debut album, ‘Take Hold Of Your Promise!’ – listen to new single, ‘Love All The Population’ below.The band, made up from ex-Palma Violets members Sam Fryer, Will Doyle and Peter Mayhew alongside The Big Moon’s Celia Archer and guitarist Adam Brown, returned last month with new single ‘Dead Is Dead’, after being away for over three years.Due out August 26, ‘Take Hold Of Your Promise!’ was produced by Matthew E. White, who flew over to work with Gently Tender at Rockfield Studios, following initial sessions at Spacebomb in Richmond, Virginia.

Working Men’s Club have today (May 31) shared a new single – check out ‘Ploys’ below.The song is taken from their recently announced second album, ‘Fear Fear’, and follows on from the previously released tracks, ‘Widow‘ and ‘Circumference‘.The band’s self-titled debut album came out in 2020, and they announced last September that its follow-up was finished.‘Fear Fear’ will come out on July 15 via Heavenly, and frontman Syd Minsky-Sargeant discussed its creation and themes in a statement, saying: “The first album was mostly a personal documentation lyrically, this is a blur between personal and a third-person perspective of what was going on.“I like the contrast of it being happy, uplifting music and really dark lyrics,” he added. “It’s not a minimal record, certainly compared to the first one.

Self Esteem, has penned an essay about the pressure she believes female artists face to provide TikTok content.The article comes following a number of artists speaking publicly about their experiences of their labels and management pushing them to post on the social media platform.They include FKA Twigs, who has said: “It’s true all record labels ask for are TikToks and I got told off today for not making enough effort” and since deleted her TikTok account. Charli XCX, Florence Welch and more have also expressed similar sentiments.Halsey, meanwhile, said earlier this month: “I have a song that I love that I wanna release ASAP, but my record label won’t let me… my record company is saying that I can’t release it unless they can fake a viral moment on TikTok.

The Strokes have been forced to cancel or postpone some of their ongoing tour dates due to a positive COVID-19 test.In a statement posted to Instagram, The Strokes confirmed there had been a positive COVID-19 test in their camp and that their gigs tonight (May 28) and Monday (May 30) would be affected.They wrote: “Due to a positive Covid case in The Strokes, we must regretfully cancel tomorrow night’s appearance at Boston Calling.“We are incredibly sorry and we will do our best to get back to Boston soon.”A post shared by Julian Casablancas (@minorbutmajor)They have also postponed a concert they were meant to deliver on Monday May 30 in support of congressional candidate Kina Collins.The band were due to play an intimate gig in Chicago in support of Collins, who is running for Congress in the upcoming primaries, which take place on June 28, representing Illinois’ 7th District.For this gig, fans are being advised to hold on to tickets while they work towards rescheduling the date.“Kina Collins has lived the challenges on the ground in IL-7 and she’s exactly the kind of non-corporate, good-hearted, progressive-minded leader the world needs in these corrupt times,” the band’s frontman Julian Casablancas said recently.“In a system dominated by super-pacs and profit-fueled political machines, Kina is rejecting all that, and choosing to fight for people’s actual needs and desires.”Collins added: “We are so excited to have The Strokes coming to Chicago to help our campaign reach a new level of momentum in the final stretch before election day on June 28.

The National have revealed that they’re working on new music during rehearsals for their upcoming tour.The band kick off their global tour next week with a pair of shows at Salle Pleyel in Paris, France on Monday (May 30) and Tuesday (May 31).They’ll then play a variety of festivals across Europe – including Spain’s Primavera Sound, Ireland’s Docklands Festival and Portugal’s Rock in Rio Lisboa – before heading home for a tour across North America.In a new social media post, The National have shared a photo from tour rehearsals while teasing the arrival of some new music.“Rehearsals are underway,” the band wrote yesterday (May 26). “It’s great for the seven of us to finally be back together in a room working on music both fresh and familiar.

MUNA have shared their new single, ‘Home By Now’ – listen below.The latest song to be previewed from their forthcoming self-titled album, ‘Home By Now’ follows a pair of singles released by the Los Angeles-based trio earlier this year: ‘Kind Of Girl’ and ‘Anything But Me.’In a statement, Katie Gavin – who forms one third of MUNA alongside Naomi McPherson and Josette Maskin – said ‘Home By Now’ recalls the sounds of the band’s 2017 debut, ‘About U’, and discussed the track’s lyrics.“[‘Home By Now’] is the song on the record that we feel might be closest to our first album in that it’s a dance song with brutal lyrics and an emo bridge…While a lot of this album does seem to be about trusting my instincts, this song acknowledges the pain of not knowing if I left a relationship that I was meant to be in,” Gavin said.‘Home By Now’ arrives ahead of MUNA’s self-titled album, which was announced in March and will mark the band’s first project since their 2019 sophomore album, ‘Saves The World’.
