Pete Davidson’s ‘SNL’ episode scrapped amid writers strike
voted unanimously to call for a strike — Hollywood’s first in 15 years — claiming that writers have faced difficulties securing steady jobs.“The companies’ behavior has created a gig economy inside a union workforce, and their immovable stance in this negotiation has betrayed a commitment to further devaluing the profession of writing,” a statement from the labor union reads.“From their refusal to guarantee any level of weekly employment in episodic television, to the creation of a ‘day rate’ in comedy variety, to their stonewalling on free work for screenwriters and on AI for all writers, they have closed the door on their labor force and opened the door to writing as an entirely freelance profession.”In light of the major transformations within the industry — such as the rise of streaming — WGA argues that workers’ compensation needs to reflect such changes. But the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, who sit opposite the strike, claims it gave writers “generous increases in compensation” and “improvements in streaming residuals.”The alliance, which acts as a bargaining representative, said it was previously willing to improve the offer, “but was unwilling to do so because the magnitude of other proposals still on the table that the guild continues to insist upon.”In addition to fair wages, the union is attempting to negotiate stricter regulations on the use of AI amid fears of the advanced technology decimating jobs.Hollywood writers last went on strike in 2007, an action that lasted 100 days.

‘Dancing With the Stars’ leaves Disney+ for next season, will return to ABC
Vulture reported on Tuesday. The return to its prized slot on the network comes just a year after it became the first live series hosted on Disney+.At the time, the move was justified by Disney’s desperation to expand their “demographic reach” as well as an upcoming Monday Night Football schedule that would trump the tenured dance competition. “The show’s broad appeal, as well as the overwhelming popularity of its Disney-themed competition nights, make Disney+ the perfect home for ‘Dancing With the Stars’ while continuing to expand our demographic reach,” Kareem Daniel, the former chairman of now-defunct Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution division, said at the time. The transition followed a major shakeup in the last few years, which included the exit of executive producer Andrew Llinares who oversaw the replacement of co-host Tom Bergeron with Tyra Banks for Season 29.Now, “DWTS” veteran Julianne Hough will replace the notorious supermodel as co-host alongside Alfonso Ribeiro for the upcoming season, which is slated to air this fall. The competition’s return to its coveted slot on ABC has not been officially announced by the network nor Disney, but Vulture reports that Disney+ subscribers will have the best of both worlds: the episodes will continue to be live-streamed via the platform, in addition to being available next-day on Hulu.Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will return as judges in the upcoming season, but without their legendary fourth panelist Len Goodman.

Bill Nighy denies Anna Wintour romance after Met Gala — their pals beg to differ
his and Anna Wintour’s Met Gala debut as a couple, saying in a statement that he and the Vogue editor-in-chief have a platonic relationship.“Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades,” the “Love Actually” star’s rep told Page Six Monday.“They are not in a relationship.”The duo arrived together at Wintour’s big night and walked the red carpet arm-in-arm, prompting viewers to speculate that the fashionable fund-raiser was their big debut. Both Nighy and Wintour had attended previous Met Galas solo. The Post even heard that Wintour’s closest friends were “thrilled for them to be making it official at the Met.”Apparently, they were only firming up their friendship — depending on whom you believe. The alleged non-couple sparked romance rumors in 2018 when they were spotted taking in two plays together, but even then the “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” actor shut down any hearsay. The new couple, who are both Brits, also set tongues wagging last December when they were spotted together at a New York screening of Nighy’s Oscar-nominated film, “Living.”But the friendship appeared to take a romantic turn three years ago when they dined together, and eyewitnesses told The Post that Wintour, 73, was “beaming” the whole night.“She looked happy and in very good company.

King Charles ‘bullied’ out of showing ‘sausage fingers’ in new portraits
wurst.King Charles III has been accused of hiding his “sausage fingers” out of embarrassment in new portraits released ahead of his coronation.Charles wore a simple pinstripe suit while Queen Consort Camilla wore a blue dress — but royal fans on Twitter were quick to notice that the king’s hands were nowhere to be seen. The 74-year-old monarch seemed to make every possible effort to keep his hands away from the camera. One picture shows him standing with his hands behind his back next to Camilla, 75, while another shows him with a hand in his pocket.Whether or not Charles’ “sausage fingers” — a term he himself coined during a 2012 Australian tour — were the reason for his out-of-frame hands, the king’s hands have been roasted online since he took the throne last September.“Sausage fingers” was even the seventh most searched term on Google at one point this year.Social media users are now joking that the king has been “bullied” into hiding his digits in photos.“Show us his hands cowards,” one person tweeted.“I want to abolish the monarchy but I do still feel bad that we have gang bullied a grown man into never showing his hands again,” another wrote.“I can’t believe Twitter has bullied the literal king into never showing his hands,” someone commented.“We’re never seeing them again brother,” another said.Even with camera-shy hands, Charles himself hasn’t addressed the internet’s obsession with his fingers. The coronation of King Charles is on May 6.

Princess Anne’s warning: ‘Slimmed down’ monarchy isn’t ‘a good idea’ after Megxit
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “Mexit” and Prince Andrew’s controversies could be detrimental. In an interview with Canada’s CBC News, Princess Anne, 72, was asked about the idea of a “slimmed down” monarchy. The Princess Royal shared that the concept was originally proposed “when there were a few more people around.”But now, with Harry, 38, and Markle, 41, out, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip both passed away, and Prince Andrew stripped of his royal title, Princess Anne doesn’t think there’s any good reason to slim the royal family down even further.“It doesn’t sound like a good idea from where I’m standing, I would say. I’m not quite sure what else we can do,” she said.Princess Anne also defended the crown after recent polling suggested that there are fewer people who would like to see the monarchy live on.The late Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter said that “there will be [conversation], everywhere” about the relevance of the polling, and that the coronation of King Charles will give the public a moment to ponder the relevance of the monarchy.“It’s not a conversation I would necessarily have.
