giant Blue Marlin for the ages. While on a 6-day fishing trip in the Cape Verdes Islands the three friends landed an absolute beast of a big Blue Marlin which is second-largest ever caught in the Atlantic.

Weighing in at 1,370 pounds (97 stone) and measuring twice the length of the men at 12 feet, the truly humungous fish looks more like something out of a science fiction movie than a real animal.Led by 50-year-old Ben Vorster and Capt.

Ryan “Roo” Williamson, the men "teased" the big Blue Marlin up from the depths.Once it was wrangled the men fought the fish for 30 minutes on a 130-pound-test before they were finally able to get it up on to the boat.Once the men had the marlin safely stowed on deck, they were able to limp back to the marina buoyed by the colossal weight of their cargo. They then weighed their prize and found that while it was huge, it technically wasn't the biggest ever caught in the waters. At 1,370-pounds with a girth of 66ins around, the Marlin was 32 pounds lighter than the IGFA All Tackle World Record holder which was the 1,402 pound specimen of fish caught in Brazil in 1992.Far from disappointed though the men soon set about cracking on with their next part of their task - butchering the monster.

Amazingly after the flesh was harvested from the creature it was distributed to the locals, reports brobible. It's thought there will be enough meat to feed many families for days if not weeks. To stay up to date with all the latest news, make sure you sign up to one of our newsletters here. .
